Organs donated from 5-year-old victim of accident near Kamloops . . . “He is a hero,” says family friend who set up GoFundMe page

Medical staff at a Vancouver hospital were set Wednesday to recover the heart, liver and kidneys from Quinn Cochlin, a five-year-old boy who was involved in a single-vehicle accident near Kamloops on Sunday in which his father, Mike, and brother, Liam, were killed.

The Cochlins were from Okotoks, Alta., and were on their way home after what has been described as a boys’ trip to B.C.

Mike, 47, was declared dead at the scene of the accident, near Stump Lake on Highway 5A south of Kamloops early Sunday evening. The vehicle carrying him and his two sons left the two-lane highway and went down a steep embankment.

Liam, 8, and Quinn were taken to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, where Liam died. Quinn was moved to B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver where he was placed on life support.

Amy Davies, a friend from Okotoks, has set up a GoFundMe page to help Erin Cochlin, Mike’s widow and the mother of both boys, that is right here.

On Wednesday, Davies wrote on the GoFundMe page: “Quinn will be donating his heart, liver and kidneys tonight. He is a hero.”
